Love over Hate

Acrylic paint and oil pastel on Canvas
545 x 394 mm

In Buddhist philosophy, human life is fundamentally recognized as “Suffering” and it is caused by individuals’ “Attachment” to something. The inner state of a person engulfed in suffering is like a war. In my view, all of humanity’s wars are expressions of this individual attachment and the resultant suffering.

The painting is a visualization of burnt ashes and blood after a war. It does not refer to any specific war but a conflict or a battle between different beliefs and stances.

Green and blue in the very first layer of the painting displays the state of harmony on the Earth. Ashes from fire, flames, gunshot wounds, blood, destruction, and tears shed as a result of man-made conflicts due to divarication and greed for wealth and power are expressed with dark and orange hues.
